Inter Miami Club President David Beckham is the one who really wants Neymar to become the next big star to join the team he founded and co-owns, alongside Messi, Suarez, Busquets and Jordi Alba, according to MLS Moves (USA).
The ambition of this former football star and successful businessman is to turn Inter Miami into a team that is competitive enough in major tournaments in 2025, having won the right to participate in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and Club World Cup.
If it is really possible, Neymar will reunite with his two former teammates Messi and Suarez at Inter Miami to reunite the once famous MSN trio at the former Barcelona club.
In a previous conversation with David Beckham, Neymar confirmed that he would join Inter Miami after finishing his playing career in Europe. However, the 32-year-old Brazilian star is currently playing for Al Hilal Club with a “huge” contract, with a salary of up to 80 million USD/year. Neymar’s contract is valid until June 2025. Therefore, from the beginning of 2025, he has the right to negotiate a transfer to a new club if he wants.
“Al Hilal is open to the idea of letting Neymar leave at the beginning of the year, if they receive a suitable offer. Through that, the club can recover part of the transfer fee, otherwise they will lose this player for free in the summer when the contract expires. There is still no move that Al Hilal will negotiate an extension with Neymar,” journalist Tariq Al Nofal (Saudi Arabia) said.
Neymar has just returned to play for Al Hilal after more than a year out due to a serious injury. The star came off the bench in Al Hilal’s 5-4 win over Al Ain (UAE) in the AFC Champions League on October 22.
During Neymar’s absence, Al Hilal with stars like Bono, Renan Lodi, Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Milinkovic-Savic, Malcom and Mitrovic, and the addition of Cancelo from Man City at the start of the 2024-2025 season, dominated the Saudi Pro League and Saudi Arabian football cups.
Neymar is currently not on Al Hilal’s roster for the Saudi Pro League. He will only be registered again from the second leg in early 2025. However, with current developments, whether Neymar will continue to play for Al Hilal is still open.
In case of joining Inter Miami to reunite with Messi and Suarez, Neymar will definitely have to take a significant pay cut. Besides, Inter Miami will also have to find more vacant Designated Player slots as regulated by MLS – the American professional soccer league, to be able to recruit Neymar.
